Father and son deny dinghy theft

A father and son have denied stealing a $10,000 dinghy from the Bermuda Sea Cadets.

James King, 50, and Jade King, 23, appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Both pleaded not guilty to stealing the 18-foot wooden dinghy from Sandys on March 22 last year.

The pair, from Middle Road, Southampton, also pleaded not guilty to an alternate charge of dishonestly receiving stolen goods, referring to the dinghy.

James King had already appeared in court in May this year accused of stealing the dinghy but was today charged alongside his son and had his $2,000 bail extended.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted Jade King bail of $2,000 with a like surety and adjourned the case until December 18 for mention.
