BCB’s Twitter tribute to Hughes

The BCB pays its respects to Hughes

The Bermuda Cricket Board has contributed to a poignant Twitter hashtag in memory of Phillip Hughes, the late Australian batsman.

The online tribute, #putyourbatsout, has gone viral, with cricketers both professional and amateur paying their respects to the 25-year-old.

Hughes died on Thursday after being hit on the neck by a bouncer while playing for New South Wales. The hashtag took off after Paul Taylor, a cricket fan from Sydney, tweeted a picture of his bat outside his front door as a mark of respect. Adam Gilchrist, Sachin Tendulkar and Graeme Swann are just some of the names to follow suit, as well as the entire England cricket team.

The BCB posted the above picture of a bat and Bermuda cap outside its offices on Point Finger Road.
