Bermuda Regiment soldiers took to the field to learn how to conduct safe firing exercises on the move.
The course was run by British Army experts Major Andy Atkinson and Sergeant Martin Black of the Small Arms School Corps (SASC).
The course was the second phase of training run by the pair, who last week successfully passed ten soldiers – ranging from a Captain to a Corporal – in a live firing course at the Warwick Camp range.
The second phase involved using a variety of weapons from the Regiment’s armoury, from pistols to rifles and general purpose machine guns, using blank ammunition in exercises in the field.
All the soldiers involved got a British Army qualification which will allow them to train other soldiers – with an emphasis on safety.
Sgt Black, formerly of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, said: “They’re doing well. They’ve been very responsive to the training and I’m happy with the way they’ve been conducting themselves and how they take the information in.”
