Once Christmas is over, Santa Claus takes a break and plays with the polar bears.

That’s according to five-year-old Tayte Glasgow of Purvis Primary.

Although much has been written about Santa Claus’ Christmas doings, his post-holiday life is shrouded in mystery. Does he take a vacation?

To shed some light on this and other Santa questions, The Royal Gazette turned to the experts — children. Even they were a little divided on the issue, but they had some surprising information to share.

According to Tayte, Santa moves in with the polar bears after Christmas — he gives them gifts in return.

“They probably get squeaky toys,” Tayte said.

Somersfield Academy student Luca Bortoli disagreed. The five-year-old insisted that because Santa has so many toys to make he gets right back to work immediately after Christmas.

“After Christmas he has to start making the toys, and the coal for the bad children,” Luca said. He was fairly certain he wouldn’t be getting coal himself this year, as he’d been working hard to listen to his parents and teachers and stay on Santa’s good list.

Four-year-old Madison Lane, another Somersfield Academy student, also thought Santa probably didn’t have time for taking breaks.

“He never gets tired because the elves help him,” she explained.

Best friends Kree Holdipp, of Somerset Primary, and Karis Masters Burgess, of Northlands Primary, thought Santa probably didn’t need to take a vacation.

“For fun Santa probably plays in the snow,” said Karis, five.

Kree, also five, said she had written her letter to Santa already. “It said, ‘Dear Santa, love Kree’,” she said with a big smile.

Amaya Bean, of Purvis Primary, thought Santa Claus should holiday in Bermuda.

“If he comes to Bermuda, he should come to my house!” the four-year-old said.
