Prison staff’s festive cheer for care homes

Prison staff present Christmas gifts to residents of the Lorraine Rest Home

Prison staff were quick to get into the festive spirit by donating Christmas hampers to two residential care homes.

Corrections employees handed out the baskets of goodies to the Lorraine Rest Home in Warwick and Bendicion in Sandys as part of their annual holiday drive.

Prison officers also visited the Salvation Army in Hamilton on December 11 to serve Christmas dinners to the homeless.

Yvette Brown, social worker at Westgate Correctional Facility, said: “This is our way of giving back to the community. We have been giving out the Christmas hampers to residential care homes for more than 15 years.

“It was great to see all ranks pull together including the Prison Officer’s Recreation Club for one good cause.”
