Tougher penalties needed for bad drivers

Dear Sir,
Your article, “Premier to address issue of road deaths”, does not really inspire too much enthusiasm.
If there ever was a case for “the penalty fit the crime”, this is it. How about this for starters:
n Convicted drink-drivers receive a five-year suspension from driving all vehicles and must complete 60 days community service.
n Speeding at more than 60kph carries an 18-month suspension and 30 days community service.
n Driving while disqualified for those offences means the penalty is doubled.
I bet this catches someone’s attention.
