Bermuda re/insurer Validus Holdings Ltd last night said it has opened a new office in Boston, Massachusetts.

The operation, Validus Underwriters, Inc, will strengthen the company’s US platform, which already comprises offices in Miami, New York, and Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, headquarters of recently acquired Western World Insurance Group, Inc.

Validus’ Boston office will be home to the company’s new Property Brokerage team, the company said. Business will be exclusively produced through wholesale brokers, written on Western World paper, and comprised of US surplus lines risks.

The Property Brokerage business will be led by Bill Steinberg, who has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, 17 of which were spent underwriting and managing excess and surplus (E&S) property portfolios.

Steve Nadeau, who has worked with Mr Steinberg in the past, also brings a wealth of experience to the new team, having more than 20 years of industry experience, 14 of which focused on underwriting and managing E&S property business.
