Cut back on MPs to save money

Dear Sir,

I was a BPSU shop steward while living in Bermuda, and while I agree with the reasoning behind the march, I do not agree with it going into a third day. This is not proper protocol for what was clearly a strike. Notice should have been given.

The first day was a good day to send a message to Government of the power of the people by marching, and on that day Government should have been served with a 21-day strike notice. Then let the union heads deal with Government officials after that.

Should nothing be agreed upon by 21 days, then by all means strike. Doing so without notice disrupted schools and transport and caused non-unionised people to be penalised for not being at work to care for their children.

If the OBA wants to cut spending, we have too many MPs and Senators. It’s absurd how over-governed we are and that these people are getting two or three salaries. Backbenchers get paid to never show up. Start cutting there!
