KBB gets $10,000 boost

Helping out: Susan Conyers, president of The Garden Club with Anne Hyde, the executive director of KBB

Keep Bermuda Beautiful (KBB) has been given a $10,000 donation from The Garden Club of Bermuda to go towards KBB’s 2015 fundraising drive.

The presentation, made at the Garden Club’s January general meeting, is to support their work of encouraging individuals to take greater responsibility in reducing waste and eliminating litter through action and education.

Club president Susan Con-yers said: “We are delighted to be able to support this very worthwhile organisation.”

KBB’s executive director, Anne Hyde, said: “Last year KBB felt the financial pinch, as did other charitable organisations. We are extremely pleased to start this year on a positive note with the support and generosity of this donation from The Garden Club.

“It is an honour to know that they confidently support KBB’s work to protect our Island.” said Ms Hyde.

According to a press release from KBB, the organisation was originally an offshoot of The Garden Club. It was founded in 1964 and is one of the island’s oldest environmental charities, providing awareness and education about the danger that litter poses to Bermuda’s beauty, wildlife and the health of the environment.

Volunteers assist with neighbourhood cleanups throughout the year.
