Man charged with importing $268,000 of weed

A 25-year-old man charged with importing more than 5,000g of cannabis was bailed when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Zicco Pearman, of Rockaway Drive, Southampton, was also charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

The court heard that Mr Pearman allegedly imported 5,367g of cannabis, which could have had a street value of up to $268,000, at LF Wade International Airport on July 30 last year.

Mr Pearman, who worked at the airport as a security guard, was not required to enter a plea because the charges are indictable and must be heard in Supreme Court.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted bail at $25,000 with one like surety, on the condition that Mr Pearman surrenders his travel documents, not leave the jurisdiction of Bermuda and reports to Police weekly.

The matter was adjourned to February 13 for mention.
