CTY students have the write stuff

The Center for Talented Youth nurtures and supports the development of students from both private and public schools. The Creative Working Class forwarded us these articles from their Creative Writing Class.

“If I had one wish that wish would be …”: By Kristy Sanchez

If I had one wish it would be for world peace. World peace because there is so much violence in Bermuda, let alone the rest of the world. If there was world peace, there would be less people dying and getting injured. The overall world would be happy. People would live longer and it would be great! That is my wish!

This class is the best writing class I’ve ever been to! I love that we learn something new each class. This has been a great experience as this is my first CTY class. I love this class so much and there are no dislikes for me!

After watching our videotape of our skit, I think we did really well, for our first time. We did an awesome job as a team. It was hilarious! This is the best! Once we wrap it up, it will be brilliant!

“Tropical or storm? Your choice!”: By Tomasina Pearman

My gust rolls on and on with the everlasting winds as I cross the Azure water of the deep Atlantic Ocean. I reach my destination as a wind but I know I will be growing stronger. The island of Bermuda is no match for my power ….

The storm is rolling in its mist, grey clouds swirl violently. Day says, it’s just some rain but I know he is wrong …

Reaching out closer and closer I almost feel human while grasping for more strength. My winds will almost be free. CRASH! Yes, my first tree down! I need more power.

Storm edges closer, I’m afraid the power is off and the shadows in my room look like spirits. I shudder, what if they were spirits, spirits of people who had died in a hurricane!

“Fay’s coming closer people watch out!” though I know nobody would be able to hear me, even if my wind wasn’t taking my breath away.

Boom! Our tree is fallen down! Lightning flashes illuminating my face, I await the moment it fades into nothingness. I rush to my parents my heart in my throat …

“I will destroy all you humans!” Fay screamed, “All of your worthless bodies will be mine!” I feel a tingle; my gust dies down “Noooo!” I yell but it’s too late, I am gone!

“Goodbye Fay!” I say, a smile spreads across my face.
