Men’s day celebration at Richard Allen AME Church

Tomorrow

Richard Allen AME Church will host a men’s day celebration with the theme The Bonding of a Band of Brothers. It will be based on a passage of scripture from 1 Samuel 10:26 — ‘And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and valiant men went with him, whose hearts God had touched’. The services, featuring Rev Dr Kenneth Marcus (Pastor of Turner Chapel AME Church in Marietta, Georgia), will run at 11am and 4pm.

Tuesday

(February 10)

Vernon Temple AME Church will host a pre-men’s day service at 7pm. The night’s speaker will be Apostle Jimmie Demwiddie. People are also encouraged to attend their annual men’s day event on Sunday, February 15.

Next Saturday

(February 14)

Women Aglow Int is inviting people to its Fellowship Worship Service at Astwood Hall, Church Street, Hamilton. Starting at 9.45am, the event will feature guest speaker Rev Lorne K Bean (of Richard Allen AME in St George’s). Light refreshments will be served. St Paul AME Hands of Faith Ministry, under the distinguished patronage of Mr and Mrs Philip Butterfield, will present a Valentine Awards Banquet. The event, taking place in the church’s Centennial Hall, will celebrate couples who have performed distinguished community service. Entertainment will be provided by Elton Richardson and the Paradise Band. Tributes will also be paid by Rev Nicholas Tweed. The banquet starts at 6.30pm. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased from the church office at 292-0505.

Next Sunday

(February 15)

Vernon Temple AME Church will host its annual men’s day service with the theme Taking The Church to the Next Level Through Unity. It will be based on a passage of scripture from Psalm 133:1-3. There will be three services that day — Brother Edward Woolridge leads one at 7am; Brother Lateef Trott at 10am and by Pastor Clarke Minors at 4pm. Lunch will be served for $15.

Monday, February 16

Christian mentor and motivational speaker Chris Crumpler will host a leadership camp at Vernon Temple Church Hall for boys ages eight to 15 from February 16 to 20. The camp costs $125. For more information e-mail info@chriscrumpler.com or call 595-2305.

Saturday, February 21

Allen Temple AME will host a special men’s day event. It will feature three different speakers — Brother Kent Bascome at 8am; Brother Kevin Lambert at 11am and Rev Jahkimmo Smith at 4pm.
