Registration open for Argus Walks the Walk

Registration is now open for Argus Walks the Walk, a charity 5K fun walk organised by the Centre on Philanthropy and sponsored by the Argus Group, on Sunday, February 22nd.

Warm-up will be at 8.15am for an 8.30am start and the Walk will start and finish in front of the Argus Building on Wesley Street. This is a rain or shine event.

The registration fee is $25 and $20 goes to the charity of your choice with the other $5 going to support www.volunteer.bm, Bermuda’s only volunteer recruitment website. Participants are encouraged to form teams to raise even more money for their charity.

The first 1200 registrants will receive a free t-shirt and prizes will be given for the largest corporate, youth and non-profit teams, As well as the teams with the best coordinated outfits, the best choreography, and the best cheer.

Mount Saint Agnes Academy is celebrating their 125th birthday with a Gala Celebration and all are welcome to come join in the fun at Cafe Lido, Elbow Beach on Saturday, February 28th.

The evening starts with cocktails from 6.30pm, followed by dinner at 7.30pm and dancing until midnight. Dress is semi-formal and there is a Silent Auction.

Singles, doubles and groups are welcome. There are tables of 10, so if you would like to sit with someone , let them know, as there will be a prearranged seating chart. Also, they ask that you advise of any special dietary needs.

Tickets are $135 and includes a complimentary drink during cocktails, dinner and dancing.

The March edition of the monthly Ciné Club from L’Alliance Française des Bermudes will be showing Un été en Provence at 8pm on Tuesday, March 10th.

Screening in the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI, this French movie with English subtitles tells the story of Leah, Adrien and Theo, who go on holiday in Provence with their grandparents. In addition to being disappointed not to stay in Paris with their friends during the summer, they face the wrath of their grandfather they have never met and who is not very happy to see them land in his country paradise with their grim attitude and their boorish ways. Gradually, everyone learns to live with the other. Leah meets a handsome cowboy that makes her live countless new experiences and Adrien has fantasies about the sister of the latter, a mature woman, ice cream vendor …

An evening of dinner, dancing and sing-along, all in support of Age Concern, is in store at Duel of the Ages on Friday, March 27th.

From 7pm at the Pier 6 Waterfront Complex, this event will feature Dave Bootle, Andrew Chamberlain and Lyn Lovett.

Ever dreamed of sparring with a professional cage-fighter? Or just want to get MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Fit?

From Friday, April 3rd until Sunday, April 5th, Bermuda Combat Club will welcome UFC fighter and former TKO Featherweight Champion, Mark Hominick for their inaugural MMA Retreat Weekend. The weekend will include a variety of exciting events for fighters, fight-fans and fitness enthusiasts alike.

On Friday, April 3rd, the event will kick off with Training Session 1, focussing on Striking at Beyond Fitness Bermuda from 6pm until 9pm. Afterwards, from 10pm until 1am, fans will have the opportunity to hang out with Mark Hominick and have autographs.

On Saturday, April 4th, Training Session 2 will focus on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/Wrestling from 1pm until 4pm. From 8pm until 11pm, you will have a unique opportunity to watch UFC live on Fox Sports 1 with the pro, Mark Hominick, in attendance.

On Sunday, April 5th, there will be a bonus beach training session at Horseshoe from 8am until 10am. From 1pm until 4pm, Training Session 3 will be 3 hours of MMA.

The cost for individual Training Sessions 1, 2 or 3 are $180 for early bird who book their tickets before March 2nd or $200 afterwards.

Special Event 1: Hangout with Mark Hominick will cost $35 for early birds, $50 after March 2nd. Special Event 2: Watch UFC on Fox with Mark Hominick will also cost $35 for early birds, $50 after March 2nd. The Special Event Package, which includes both, costs $55 for early birds or $85 after March 2nd.

The Platinum Package is the ultimate experience and includes 11 hours of training with a Pro (all 3 training sessions and the bonus beach MMA conditioning session) as well as entry to both special events. The cost for this is $450 for early birds, or $500 after March 2nd.

Join in the fun while raising some funds at the Bermuda Zoological Society’s 2015 Zoom Around the Sound on Saturday, April 11th.

This is BZS’s annual 7.2 mile fun run/walk/ride around Harrington Sound. All funds benefit programmes at the Bermuda Zoological Society and this event is sponsored by Ben & Jerry’s and Butterfield & Vallis. After a Jazzercise Warm-up with Valentina at 8.30am, cyclists will start at 8.45am, runners at 8.55am and walkers at 9am.

The entry fee is $20 and the deadline to register is noon on Friday, April 10th. The first 700 participants receive an event t-shirt and goody bag.

BUEI invite you to join them for a fun and sophisticated evening raising funds for education at their 2nd Annual Underwater Extravaganza on Saturday, April 25th.

The evening will begin with cocktails at 7pm in BUEI’s upper lobby followed by a fabulous sit-down dinner at the Harbourfront. Dance the night away to music by The Big Chill while you bid on spectacular Silent Auction prizes. The dress is Undersea Elegance, so think sequins, scales and mermaid tails!

Tickets are $275 each and all proceeds raised go towards BUEI’s 2015 Education Campaign.
