Man denies weapon charge

A Sandys man was bailed in Magistrates’ Court this morning after he denied possessing a prohibited weapon.

The court heard that George Hassell, 56, is alleged to have had a flick knife in his possession in St George’s on January 19.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted $3,000 bail and set a trial date for May 26.

• Also in court today, a Pembroke woman was sentenced to time served. She had been in custody since December 12.

Trimiea Roland, 26, pleaded guilty to stealing a cheese sandwich from Rubis Service Station in Warwick on November 2.

• In another matter, a 25-year-old Sandys man was granted bail.

Jared Gordon had been into custody since January 27 after he pleaded guilty to unlawfully assaulting a woman and doing her bodily harm on January 23.

Mr Tokunbo granted 3,000 bail on the condition that Mr Gordon have no contact with the woman.

The matter was adjourned to March 12 for sentencing.
