BSX edges higher as Butterfield climbs

Three stocks rose and three fell among domestic-board companies in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading last week.

The biggest climber was Watlington Waterworks, which gained $2.70, or 16.1 per cent to close at $19.50, as 3,300 shares traded.

Bermuda Aviation Services also had a positive week, gaining 14 cents, or 5.3 per cent, to close on $2.76 as 200 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank, which climbed one cent, or 0.5 per cent, to $2, as 193,776 shares were traded, was the other gainer.

Ascendant Group, the owner of Belco, suffered the biggest fall during the week, dipping 10 cents, or 1.8 per cent to close on $5.50, on the trading of 8,500 shares.

Meanwhile insurance rivals Argus Group, which slipped 1.4 per cent, and BF&M, which slid 0.8 per cent, both moved in the same direction.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed the week up 4.92 points, or 0.35 per cent, at 1,373.36. Trading volume topped 220,000 shares, while turnover was more than $736,000.
