Quartet hit qualifying mark

Already qualified: Perinchief

The number of Bermuda athletes qualifying for the Carifta Games in St Kitts and Nevis almost doubled this weekend.

Four more reached qualifying standards during a two-day meet at the National Sports Centre, bringing the number of qualifiers to nine.

Three middle distance runners qualified in the boys under 18 800 metres where Michaiah Robinson had the fastest time of 2:00.35, followed by David Darrell in 2:01.41 and Aaron Jacobs in 2:02.07. They were joined by Azaire Smith whose leap of 1.55 metres in the under 18 girls high jump was also enough.

The four join five others who have already achieved quaifying marks; Jah-Nhai Perinchief in the under-20 boys high jump, Kyrah Scraders in the under-20 girls 1500 metres, Tiara DeRosa in the under-18 girls shot put and discus and Sakari Famous and Mikayla Wilson in the under-18 girls high jump.

The Carifta Games will be held from April 4-6.
