Somersfield launches its own app

The Somersfield Academy has introduced a new, free app intended to help the school connect with parents and the community.

A spokesman for the Devonshire school said the app is already available online, and is compatible with iPhones, Android and Windows Phone devices.

“Keeping the flow of information from school to parents can be challenging; however, through the convenience of hand-held devices such as smartphones and tablets which most students and parents own, the task of communicating between the school and the home has been facilitated,” the spokesman said.

“Essentially, the Somersfield app is an informational app which distributes pertinent information from our mobile-friendly school websites and online resources. Parents, guardians and students can be kept informed of school events, activities, community notices and receive direct messages and alerts from the school straight to their hand-held device.”

The app will be updated periodically by staff to help keep parents, guardians and even students informed of classroom notices, special activities and other reminders.
