Sister Hassell to speak at prayer breakfast

Today

Marsden First United Methodist Church is hosting a women’s day prayer breakfast from 8.30am until 11am. Surrendering Completely! Trusting God! is based on a passage of scripture found in Psalm 37: 5-7. It will feature guest speaker Sister Andrea Hassell (of Heard Chapel AME Church) and be held in the Talbot School Building at Marsden (151 South Shore Road in Smith’s). The cost is $15.

Tomorrow

Wesley, Emmanuel and Ebenezer Methodist Churches are inviting people to join them for a joint worship service at 11am. The guest preacher will be United Church of Canada moderator Reverend Gary Paterson. The service will be held at Wesley on Church Street, Hamilton.

Next Friday (March 13)

United Church Women of Wesley Methodist Church will host a St Patrick’s Day eat in/takeout luncheon. The $10 menu will include soup, rolls, dessert, tea and coffee. Its members will also host a plants and white elephant sale in Dyer Hall, downstairs at Wesley Methodist Church on Church Street from noon until 2pm. Next Saturday (March 14)

The Life and Family Office (LAFO) of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton will host a workshop with world-renowned author and theologian Christopher West. Based on Pope St John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, Mr West will teach on the Biblical vision of love and sexuality that takes people to the heart of what it means to be human. The Freedom to Love conference will be held in St Theresa’s Cathedral starting with mass and prayers at 8am and ending at 4pm. Tickets, $25, are available from any of the six Catholic Churches across the Island, as well as at the door starting at 7.30am.

Women Aglow Int. is inviting the public to its fellowship worship service at Astwood Hall on Church Street, Hamilton. The 9.45am meeting will be led by Reverend Linda A Powell of The First Church of God on North Shore. Light refreshments will be served. For more information contact Brenda Webb at 293-0955.

Next Sunday (March 15)

Marsden First United Methodist Church will host two women’s day services. Pastor Maybelle Denwiddie of New Creation Worship Centre will lead the service at 10.30am. Pastor Madeline Hayward of First Church of God, Angle Street, will speak at the 4pm service.

Wesley Methodist Church will host a covenanting service for Rev Gary Clark, intern minister David Atwood, and lay preacher/visitation minister Leo Mills at 4pm. The service will be held in the sanctuary and is open to members and non-members.

Saturday, March 21

Emmanuel Methodist Church will hold a car boot sale from 9am until 1pm. It costs $20 per table. To book or get more information call 238-1945.

Monday, March 30
