Man admits stealing $15 worth of groceries

A Pembroke man admitted stealing groceries from a Hamilton supermarket in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Dandre Butler, 25, took a melon drink and a container of food, worth $15.20, from MarketPlace on Church Street on March 4. When confronted by a member of staff, he admitted the offence and was taken into Police custody.

Butler returned to the supermarket and paid for the items and apologised to the court. Magistrate Archibald Warner gave him a 12-month conditional discharge on the condition that he does not commit any more offences.
