The winners of this year’s Keep Bermuda Beautiful awards have been unveiled at the charity’s 51st annual general meeting.

The charity’s prize-giving at Masterworks was attended by Minister of Public Works, Craig Cannonier and Senator Lynne Woolridge

“KBB acknowledges our honorees for their outstanding commitment to the environment and their unwavering support of KBB,” said KBB President, Amy Shillingford.

“Despite a year of funding cuts KBB continues to do more with less, and with the help of volunteers and donors KBB clean-ups went ahead in 142 locations gathering 72,000lbs of waste from Bermuda’s road-sides, beaches, and trails.”

KBB’s Environmental Partner Award award went to EY Bermuda who became title sponsor of the annual EY Bermuda Coastal Cleanup in September.

This annual event sees Bermuda join almost 650,000 volunteers in 90 countries around the world to participate in Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup.

The KBB President’s Award was presented to Catlin End-to-End for Catlin’s support of KBB by providing a Catlin Marine Grant in 2014 for its “Washed Ashore” project, and Bermuda End-to-End for grants over the years to support KBB’s work.

Certificates of appreciation were awarded to David Swift for his support of KBB’s Artful Bins Project and Weldon Wade for tackling ocean debris through his Shore Savers Programme.

Parks employee, Craig Burt, Kay Latter and Judy Diana Smith-Lee were also presented with certificates for their environmental work and support of KBB.

Finally Saltus Grammar School was honoured as the Best Adopt-A-Spot Group for 2014.
