Services aiming to raise $150,000

The Island’s emergency services have joined forces again this year to put on a charity golf tournament.

Bermuda Police Service, Bermuda Regiment, Department of Corrections and the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service have all signed up to play in the Inter-Service Golf Tournament at Port Royal Golf Course tomorrow.

The tournament aims to raise $150,000 for two of the Island’s charities, The Coalition for the Protection of Children and The Centre Against Abuse.

“We are expecting a full tournament of twenty-four teams with participation from all four services as well as partners in HM Customs, Dept of Immigration, US Customs & Border Protection and the Bermuda Post Office,” Acting Chief Inspector Tracy Burgess said.

“Together, and as part of our everyday service to our community, we understand the positive impact these charities have in our community.”

n Dwayne Pearman completed his customary win in the Bacardi sponsored PGA of Bermuda Betterball Pro-Am at Turtle Hill Golf Club on Monday.

Pearman and Alan Bradshaw won for the fourth time in a row, finishing at seven-under-par, although this week their margin of victory was only one shot, with Camiko Smith and Donovan Livingston finishing in a tie for second with Twilly Smith and Chris Birch.

There will be two more events in the series, on March 16 and March 23 in the build-up to the Grey Goose World Par 3 Championships the following weekend.
