Martín signs up for Par 3

Charlie Rymer, the Golf Channel analyst

Miguel Ángel Martín, a three-times winner on the European Tour, is among a host of overseas professionals who have signed up to play in the Bermuda Open and Grey Goose World Par 3 Championship next week.

Martín, who controversially missed out on the 1997 European Ryder Cup team, also represented Spain on several occasions at the World Cup and Alfred Dunhill Cup, winning the event in 2000 alongside Miguel Ángel Jiménez and José María Olazábal, the man who replaced him in the European team.

Also on the list are past winners on the European Tour and European Seniors Tour, Mark Mouland, Barry Lane, Anders Forsbrand, Gordon Brand Jr and Nicholas James Job.

In all 26 professionals, both local and overseas, have signed up for the Open so far, with Justin Regier also returning to defend his title.

Regier won by two strokes last year after overhauling Glenn Joyner’s three-shot lead on a marathon final day in which the players were required to complete the final 36 holes after the third round was hit by gale force winds.

The American just pipped Michael Sims to the title, and the pair will battle it out again next week in the Grey Goose when Mouland will defend his title at Turtle Hill Golf Club.

Charlie Rymer, the Golf Channel analyst, will also be back this year for another of his exclusive evenings at Waterlot Inn. Rymer will be joined by the likes of Lane and Brand Jr, as well as Philip Walton, a member of the 1995 European Ryder Cup winning side.
