After losing to Bermuda Institute in the first game of the season, the CedarBridge rugby team fought their way back into the finals, gaining them a second face-off and a chance at gold against BI.

The game was a struggle for Bermuda Institute and CedarBridge was not going down without a fight.

Through the dedication of coaches Patrick Calow, Scott Devine and Darren Woods, the boys were determined to regain the championship status they earned in 2013.

After what seemed to be a scoreless game, senior player Anthony Sousa pulled through for the boys, giving them a try and ending the game 5-0, securing victory. Captain Cedric Ennis said: “We all worked hard every week in training, especially our last training session. Our minds were prepared for the championship day.”

The boys played with heart and showed that hard work, does pay off. Congratulations to the team and captain Cedric Ennis for leading the boys to a victory in his final year.

Unfortunately, the CedarBridge boys’ varsity basketball team did not fare as well as the rugby squad.

Pushing their way into the finals, the Wildcats faced Berkeley Institute, with a slow start. The boys worked hard to get back into the game, encouraging one another with the support of their school, but it was not enough to claim victory.

Although they brought the heat with MVP Andy Perez, Berkeley Institute lit the fire with their MVP of 33 points, Darae Smith, defeating CedarBridge 79-68.

The Ladycats basketball team was determined to bring home gold. Down by two points in the first half to Berkeley Institute, the girls went into the second half showing tremendous teamwork and true spirit of fighting to the finish.

Berkeley’s MVP, Sekari Famous, worked hard to hold their title but the Ladycats, with their MVP of 14 points, Enshan-nae Smith, was not letting them take away their victory and they defeated Berkeley 37-29.

Cheers to all the outstanding athletes who brought home gold to their school. Fantastic job and amazing school spirit. Bigger and brighter things are happening in the hallways of these schools, keep an eye out for tremendous success.
