A St George’s man was fined $318 for stealing groceries from a supermarket when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Leroy Bean, 65, pleaded guilty to stealing a strip steak and Blue Bunny ice cream, worth $18, from Somers Supermart in St George’s on January 29.

The court heard that an employee saw Bean hide the items in his jacket and leave the store without paying for them.

Prosecutor Maria Sofianos said that Police were called and the defendant was arrested on February 18.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Bean $300 for stealing the items and an additional $18, which is to be paid back to Somers Supermart.
