KeyTech shares lose a quarter of value

KeyTech Ltd shares lost a quarter of their value during the past trading week, as The Royal Gazette/BSX Index slumped by almost 1.5 per cent.

Telecommunications firm KeyTech finished the week on a 52-week low of $3, down $1 for the week, on the trading of 23,700 shares. The sharp fall came after the company announced a six-month net loss of nearly $20 million.

Fellow utility Ascendant Group Ltd, owner of electricity company Belco, also had a negative week. Its shares fell 30 cents, or 5.5 per cent, to close on $5.20, as 3,300 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank also fell, shedding a cent, or 0.5 per cent, to end the week on a 52-week low of $1.97 as 197,175 of its shares traded.

Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd, which owns this newspaper as well as commercial printing, retail and real estate interests, dipped 50 cents, or 6.7 per cent, as 500 shares were exchanged.

BF&M Ltd, which rose 0.6 per cent to close on $17.50, and Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd, which gained 0.3 per cent to climb to $3.01, were the only domestic-board issues to climb.

The Index fell 19.52 points to close on 1,341.66. Trading volume was just shy of 241,000 shares, while turnover was more than $635,000.
