Pembroke woman denies assault

A Pembroke woman who denied attacking a woman and damaging her car was bailed in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Makeba Peets, 38, allegedly assaulted Keveka Robinson and did her bodily harm in Pembroke on February 13.

She also allegedly caused wilful and unlawful damage, to the value of $412.48, to a car belonging to Ms Robinson on the same date.

Prosecutor Larissa Burgess told the court that Ms Robinson sustained bruising to her face during the attack and that a wing mirror on her car was damaged.

Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe granted $2,000 bail with a like surety on the condition that Ms Peets have no contact with the complainant or any of the prosecution witnesses.

Ms Peets elected to be tried in Magistrates’ Court and the matter was adjourned to April 20 for mention.
