Man denies threatening ex’s husband

A Sandys man who pleaded not guilty to assaulting and threatening his former partner’s husband was bailed in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Antoine Darrell, 46, allegedly assaulted Marco Pereira and did him bodily harm in Paget on Good Friday.

Mr Darrell also allegedly uttered the threatening words “I’m going to kill you” to Mr Pereira yesterday at Hamilton Police Station.

Prosecutor Carrington Mahoney told the court that the complainant is married to the mother of the defendant’s children.

Senior Magistrate Juan Wolffe granted $1,500 bail on the condition that the defendant have no contact with the complainant or any of the prosecution witnesses.

Mr Darrell elected to be tried in Magistrates’ Court and a trial date was set for June 19.

Also in court, a Sandys man denied a charge of unlawful assault occasioning bodily harm.

Dean Place, 41, allegedly assaulted Jermaine Nesbitt on November 2 last year.

Mr Wolffe granted $1,500 bail on the condition that the defendant have no contact with the complainant.

A trial date was set for June 23.
