Accident victims who were seriously injured in a collision on Saturday afternoon, are in stable condition in the intensive care unit at the King Edward Memorial Hospital, a Police spokesman reported this morning.

A 23-year-old guest worker sustained head injuries in the accident, while a second victim is being treated for lacerations to his arm.

A passing doctor, an off-duty EMT and other members of the public came to the assistance of the two men after the crash.

The 23-year-old, who was riding a livery cycle, and the 43-year-old, who was riding a Yamaha motorcycle, collided in the vicinity of St John’s Road and Mount View Road.

At the scene, the motorcycles were lying in proximity on the road. There was some blood on the tarmac, and a lone flip-flop lay near one of the cycles.

Following the accident, Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said: “At 5.13pm first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision in the vicinity of Cox’s Hill.

“Details are sketchy, but it appears that a 23-year-old male on a livery cycle and a 43-year-old male on a motorcycle collided. As a result, both men were conveyed to the hospital and the 23-year-old male is presently being treated for serious head injuries, whilst the 43-year-old is being treated for serious lacerations to his arm.”

Police thanked a passing doctor, an off-duty EMT and other members of the public who immediately rendered assistance to the victims.

“Inquiries are ongoing and any witnesses to this collision are once again asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.”
