Man charged with unlawful wounding

A Hamilton Parish man charged with unlawfully wounding a man was bailed when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Prosecutor Maria Sofianos told the court that Shirwin Smith, 27, stabbed Pernell Outerbridge in the area of his left ear with a 4in pocket knife in Hamilton Parish on March 29.

Mr Smith was not required to enter a plea because the charge is indictable and will be tried in Supreme Court.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted $10,000 bail with a like surety on the condition that Mr Smith wear an electronic monitoring device and have no contact with Mr Outerbridge.

The matter was adjourned to May 5 for mention.
