Chewstick joins family festival

This weekend’s family festival at Dockyard will have the support of the Chewstick Foundation, who are arranging local entertainers for the two-day event.

The festival, motivated in part by the cancellation of the annual Agricultural Exhibition, will bring entertainment each hour on the hour to the lawns at the Clock Tower.

Chewstick’s executive director Gavin Smith said the family theme had made it an easy decision to get involved.

“At Chewstick, the promotion of arts and culture is something that we live for and it has been great rounding up a diverse range of entertainment for all segments of our community to enjoy.”

Eugene Dean on the organising committee said he was pleased to see the community rallying behind the event, calling collaboration “the key to our evolution”.

“For years, Chewstick has been building relationships and developing a growing following around arts and entertainment, so when it comes to anything performance related, it is only natural for them to play a key role.”

DJ QB will provide music in between the various acts this weekend.
