Twelve 12 new constables have joined the Bermuda Reserve Police after a passing-out ceremony held yesterday in the Police Recreation Club hall, in Prospect, Devonshire.

The new reserve officers completed a 13-week training course, held two evenings a week for three hours each, consisting of various core competencies.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Paul Wright, Commandant Cannoth Roberts and Deputy Commandant Ron-Michel Davis delivered remarks to the assembled colleagues, family and friends that filled the hall.

The Baton of Honour, awarded to the outstanding student officer, was presented to Jeffrey DeSilva.

Retiring Reserve Sergeant Helene Benjamin (1246) was also recognised at the ceremony for her 18 years of service to the community.

Reflecting on her time as a voluntary police officer, Ms Benjamin declared that she enjoyed working in various departments within the reserves, especially when she had the opportunity to organise community events such as Harbour Nights, and indicated that she would still be willing to assist with social events in future.
