A security firm has opened the door to new business.

For Bermuda Security Group (BSG) has bought the electric door division of AlumiGlas Commercial Glass and Aluminum.

BSG chairman and president Herman Tucker said: “We are thrilled to strengthen our portfolio of access control services so that we can continue to offer a holistic security product that serves our customers from start to finish with physical access, security control, monitoring and management.”

And he added he expected “a seamless transition” of the business to its new owners.

The transfer includes the entire AlumiGlas electric door portfolio and BSG will take over all service and maintenance to US standards.

Door types include commercial and residential versions, in a range of materials, including stainless steel to painted and anodised aluminium, with folding, swinging or sliding apertures.

The firm said electric doors were energy saving, convenient for retail and business use and improved disabled access.

AlumiGlas CEO George Tatem said that his firm already worked on door installation with BSG, which provided controlled security entry systems.

Mr Tatem added: “We have confidence in their ability to service our valued clients while providing integrated security offerings for the many electric door customers around the Island.

“The sale will allow to focus on our core business, which is glazing of glass and aluminium products.”

BSG, one of the Island’s first security firms, is based in Hamilton’s King Street.

It was founded in 1969 and now has a regional office in the Cayman Islands.

Other companies in the group, which employs a total of 750 people, include Security Associates, SAFE Ltd, Shield and Security Centres International (Cayman).

AlumiGlas, based in Pembroke’s Bakery Lane, was founded in 2005 and specialises in glazing and glass installation in homes and businesses.
