Social report ordered on drug accused

A man who did a double-take on sight of Police and then fled has ended up in Magistrates’ Court on a cannabis charge.

Nickell Smith, 22, of My Lord’s Bay, Hamilton Parish, was caught with 6.4g of the drug on July 18 last year.

Police on patrol along North Shore Road near Crawl Hill pursued a man on a motorcycle after he looked over his shoulder, made a sharp turn and drove away.

Smith was stopped on Radnor Estate Drive, where he appeared nervous and ran, throwing a plastic twist over a wall. He was caught and the twist retrieved.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered a social report as well as a drug report, giving bail of $1,500 and ordering Smith to return on June 10 for sentencing.
