The Bermuda Boys’ Brigade is trying to trace old members to help celebrate the life of the group’s founder Captain Cecil Downs, who died this year.

A celebration of Mr Downs’s life and work will be held on Sunday at St Paul’s Church in Paget.

He founded the Boys’ Brigade 55 years ago and would have turned 100 on April 16.

David Semos, the group’s present captain, said: “We are hoping that the community will help us to contact as many former Boys’ Brigade members as we can to invite them come to our Youth Service on Sunday.

“All Boys’ Brigade members and leaders, past and present, are also invited to join us and the Church Girls’ Brigade as we march from the east side of church for inspection in the car park and then celebrate with cake, refreshments and fellowship in the hall afterwards.”

To find out more about the service contact Mr Semos on 236-9349 or e-mail is dasemos@ibl.bm
