High praise for civil servants

Criticism: Bermuda Customs department

Dear Sir,

I can be relied upon to criticise the astounding inefficiency and ignorance that can be found with some among our civil servants but, equally, can be relied upon to point out and compliment a couple of departments who seem to doing a great job.

The Department of Environment’s Animal Control section has been assisting me for three years with the importation of my dogs on numerous occasions.

They are efficient, they are prompt with answers, they know the rules and enforce them perfectly.

I hope one day that the HM Customs officer spoiling for a fight at the airport about a week ago gets equally up to date on the rules regarding animal importation — but I digress.

Great job Shara and your colleagues, many thanks!

The Parliamentary Registry Department left an effective notice neatly left on my doorknob while I was off the Island and followed up with a visit to my door yesterday.

Beverley was professional, knowledgeable and very quickly assisted me with getting registered correctly. The technology used was first class and made it into an incredibly simple process that, frankly, would have taken me a long time to get to without their help.

These departments have displayed a high level of excellence and, I am sure, many others in our civil service, would like to emulate them.
