Lawrence claims win with sprint finish

Lawrence was victorious in Southside

Shannon Lawrence won a sprint finish to win the Adult A Division in the Tokio Millennium Re Criterium in Southside yesterday.

The Tokio rider just edged out Winners Edge pair Anthony Bartley and Tyler Smith with only eight hundredths of second separating the top three.

Lawrence came home in 44min 22.1sec yesterday with Bartley second in 44:22.8 and Smith third in 44:22.9.

The Women’s Division was an equally tight affair, with Madison Digicel rider Sarah Bonnett holding off the challenge of Wenda Roberts and Karen Smith.

In the end the pair were separated by just four-hundredths of a second, with Bonnett crossing in 25:39.9 and Roberts in 25:40.3. Smith was third in 25:42.3.

The closest race of the day, however, happened in the Adult B division where Andrew Soares clocked 34:05.954 to record the win, with Kaden Hopkins crossing in 34:05.974. Manual Lonfat finished third in 34:06.023.

In the other races, Ricky Smith won the Adult C Division in 31:00.7, Nicholas Pilgrim took the Junior A Division title with a time of 27:58.6 ahead of Micah Cook in 28:06.1 and Alex Bordage finished third with a time of 28:07.8.

The Junior B Division was won by Ziani Burgesson with a time of 14:24.0, while Ross Cooper’s time of 9:27.8 was enough for him to claim the Junior C Division race.
