Warwick woman denies assaulting toddler

A Warwick woman accused of assaulting a toddler in her care was given bail in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Carmen Butterfield, 55, pleaded not guilty to unlawfully assaulting the child and causing bodily harm in Warwick on January 19.

She also denied wilfully abusing and neglecting the child between December 21 last year and January 21, and carrying on as a day-care provider without being registered as such on January 23.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted $2,000 bail and set a trial date for June 25.
