Dear Sir,

As a long-term resident of Paget, I am horrified to hear that we will soon be getting over 100 additional cars and trucks driving along South Road thanks to the new truck yard Government is building in the Botanical Gardens.

This entrance off South Road is a well-known blind corner for cars going east. Increases in heavy truck traffic also means that the junctions at Tee Street and Point Finger Road will now become even more dangerous.

If the media reports are correct, the large number of staff meeting there twice a day will now mean a back-up of traffic onto South Road. Goodness knows what the effect will be for everyone at rush hour.

Why are we only hearing about this now? Where has our MP Mr Cannonier been throughout all this?

What happened when you stood on our doorstep and promised you would look out for this constituency? I am also baffled by the deafening silence from the number of MPs that live in this area as well.

I can only imagine what the noise and traffic will be like. We’ll be hearing the roar of trucks and no doubt reading about the increase in traffic deaths along South Road.
