Thank a teacher this week
It is now Teacher Appreciation Week — and Education Minister Wayne Scott has joined with Acting Commissioner of Education Freddie Evans to salute the Island’s teachers.
“There is an adage that says ‘if you can read, thank a teacher’,” Mr Scott said, thanking educators for their warmth and compassion. “The teaching profession is the cornerstone of every profession.”
In his letter to Bermuda’s public schoolteachers, Dr Evans wrote: “On behalf of the Department of Education, I wish to thank you for all that you do for our students and to quote CG Jung, ‘One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.’”
