Woman denies importing cannabis

A Hamilton Parish woman accused of importing cannabis was given bail in Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Sakeena Talbot, 34, pleaded not guilty to importing 3,547 grammes of the controlled drug, and to possessing it with intent to supply, in St George’s on May 19 last year.

Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Cindy Clarke told the court that the drugs had a street value of $177,000.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted $10,000 bail with a like surety on the condition that Ms Talbot report to Police three times a week and surrender her travel documents.

Ms Talbot elected to be tried in Magistrates’ Court and the matter was adjourned to May 26 for mention.
