Man accused of Palmetto Road attack

A Pembroke man charged with carrying a bladed article in a public place and unlawfully wounding another man has been given bail.

Appearing in Magistrates’ Court on Friday, Tyun Smith-Ming, 26, pleaded not guilty to wounding Shakur Looby in Pembroke on May 5.

He also denied carrying a black-handled kitchen knife in a public place, namely Palmetto Road in Pembroke, on the same date.

Cindy Clarke, the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, told the court that the offences allegedly took place at 2.30pm.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted $10,000 bail with a like surety on the condition that Mr Smith-Ming abide by an 8pm to 6am curfew, report to Police daily and have no contact with the alleged victim.

A trial date was set for July 29.
