A St George’s man has been fined $900 for possessing cannabis, grinders and set of digital scales.

At a previous Magistrates’ Court appearance on March 18, Gregory Wade, 55, pleaded guilty to possessing 7.48g of the controlled drug, as well as two grinders and a set of scales, in St George’s on December 5 last year. In court yesterday morning, defence lawyer Auralee Cassidy said that Wade used the drugs to help ease the pain he suffers from spinal injuries that he sustained in an accident last year.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Wade $600 for possessing the drug and a further $300 for the grinders and scales.
