Investment seminar planned for May 21

As part of their mission to provide continuous education and information to their members, as well as the general public, Colonial Pension Services will be hosting an Investment Seminar / Lunch and Learn on Thursday, May 21. From 1pm in the Anglican Cathedral Church Hall on Church Street, they will focus on the specific needs of those individuals aged between 20 and 45 through an investment seminar presented by MFS Investment Managers. Enjoy those sweet soca sounds at Touch D Deck on Darrell’s Island on Friday, May 29. From 7pm until 2am, international soca stars Erphaan Alves and Nadia Batson, direct from Trinidad and Tobago, will be performing live, alongside Trinidad DJs Back 2 Basic and Duchess, and Bermuda’s own DJ Brownie. Calling all budding thespians, the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Bermuda are holding auditions for their latest production, The Drowsy Chaperone, from Friday, May 29 to Sunday, May 31. Starting Thursday, June 4 at 5.30pm, The Yoga Centre on Victoria Street is offering a two-part, 12-week Beginners Yoga Course for those who are new to yoga or with limited experience and practice. The course is designed to provide the basic principles of Yoga beneficial for safe and renewed practice; introduce alternate options for various body types; and develop awareness and build confidence in the practice of yoga specific to individual student needs. Promising the party of the year, the Bermuda National Trust Spring Soirée will be held on the evening of Saturday, June 6. This spectacular garden affair under the stars will take place in the beautiful gardens of Belair, an idyllic early 19th century Trust home on Cobb’s Hill Road in Paget. The evening will be celebrating the Trust and its preservation of 277 acres that are home to 82 historically significant properties held in trust for everyone, forever. Many locals and visitors of Native American descent will be attending the Bermuda Pow Wow 2015: A Celebration of Our Ancestors at the St. David’s Cricket Club grounds on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14. Hosted by the St. David’s Islanders and Native Community, Native American people will meet together to join families and friends together in dancing, singing and drumming. This will be from 1pm until 6pm on the Saturday and from 2pm until 7pm on the Sunday, with the Grand Entry at 2pm and 3pm, respectively. Each day will include the Grand Entry, Libation and Dedication Ceremony, local and overseas Native American dancers, songs and drums, Bermuda Gombey dancers, craft and artwork stalls, other vendors and traditional St. David’s Island food. Registration is now open for Bermuda Gymnastics Summer Camp, located conveniently at CedarBridge Academy from Monday, June 29 to Friday, August 28 (nine weeks) and at the National Training Centre, St. David’s from Monday, August 31 to Friday, September 4. Promising an excellent summer of gymnastics, fitness and fun, the camp is an excellent way for children to try gymnastics for the first time, or for more experienced gymnasts to work on their skills. The camp is for boys and girls aged four to 11, of all experience levels and abilities. The mornings focus on gymnastics instruction, while the afternoons feature games, crafts, swimming at the National Sports Centre, and outings. Their friendly, dedicated, and energetic staff is made up of experienced coaches and former competitive gymnasts who love the sport and working with children. The earliest drop off time is at 8.30am, while the latest pick up is 5.30pm. A half day pick up at noon is available at a cost of $205 and full days cost $295.
