At about 5.27pm, first responders attended a single-vehicle road traffic accident on North Shore Road, in Smith, near Police Beach and Jennings Lane.

A Police spokesman said: “Details are sketchy at present, however, it appears that a 45-year-old male visitor from Pennsylvania lost control of his rental cycle and collided with a wall.”

The visitor was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he is being treated for serious head injuries.

The scene is being processed by Forensic Support Unit and Traffic Collision Investigators and traffic is being redirected from the accident scene.
