The 2015 Bermuda Fitted Dinghy season will commence with the traditional Heritage Day season opener in St George’s Harbour on Sunday.

The event will again feature four teams from the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, Sandys Boat Club and hosts St George’s Dinghy & Sports Club who will compete for the three trophies going up for grabs.

There has been speculation that a fifth team, comprised of Oracle Team USA sailors, will compete this year in a spare fitted dinghy. However, as of yesterday this could not be confirmed.

The 2015 Bermuda Fitted Dinghy season gets under way at 12pm on Sunday with the race for the Heritage Trophy who has been held by the RBYC for the past 12 years.

Racing action continues with the Anniversary Cup to commence at 1.30pm followed by the Leon D Fox Cup which is due to start at 3pm.

The RBYC are also the defending Anniversary Cup and Leon D Fox Cup champions.

The third oldest club holding a Royal Warrant outside the British Isles made a clean sweep of victories during the 2013 Heritage Day season opener with teenage skipper Dimitri Stevens at the helm of Contest III.

The RBYC is also the defending Coronation Cup champions.
