Student athletes from CedarBridge recognised

CedarBridge Academy

In a celebratory event on May 15, a selection of profound student athletes from CedarBridge Academy were recognised from others in the community for their skills, techniques and exemplary behaviour.

Mr Ralph Furbert presented to these athletes gifts from an anonymous donor to help improve their football skills and recognise these athletes as prolific role models.

Among the selection of the athletes were Omar Wilson (member of BAA football club) and Enyche Zuill (former Valencia football club member). The young men are to participate in the Chelsea Digicel Kick Start training programme, to be held in Barbados, this coming October.

Also recognised was Tevahn Tyrell (member of Robin Hood football club and Bermuda’s Under-21 football team). Tevahn was the first from CedarBridge Academy to be selected into the Chelsea programme in 2012 and since then has been representing his country in many international competitions. Recognition was given to Tyree Robinson (member of Valencia football club) for his skills and craft in the game of football. Among the group were two up-and-coming young female athletes, Micah Pond and Symira Lowe-Darrell. Both are members of PHC (Pembroke Hamilton Club) women’s football team, Colts boys’ Under-14 team, National Academy football and netball teams (Under-15, Under-17 and Under-20 football).

Symira Lowe-Darrell has great achievements in track and field as well as football while also being recognised for her strides in academia. Micah Pond had recently represented the Under-16 netball team in an international game and has been quoted as “Bermuda’s Best Under-16 netball player” as she received the MVP award for Bermuda and, while competing, was recognised as one of the top 16 best netball players in the Caribbean.

CedarBridge Academy salutes these young and upcoming athletes as they strive for excellence.
