Fifth road death victim of 2015 named

A man seriously injured in a road crash on Friday morning died at the weekend.

Troy Hewey, 50, of Somerset, is the fifth traffic death of the year.

He was travelling along Middle Road in Southampton, near the junction with Industrial Park Road, when his motorcycle collided with a truck at about 8am on Friday.

Mr Hewey was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance and was in a critical condition. A police spokesman announced his death early on Sunday morning.

“The Bermuda Police Service would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” the spokesman said.

Mr Hewey passed away on Saturday at about 10.55pm, he added.

An investigation into the incident is under way and Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to call them on 295-0011.
