Parts of Front Street and Burnaby Street will be closed to traffic tomorrow while the “Beating of the Retreat” ceremony takes place.

Between 6pm and 10pm, Front Street will be closed from Court Street to Queen Street, while Burnaby Street will be closed from Front Street to Reid Street.

The Band and Corps of Drums of the Bermuda Regiment and the Bermuda Islands Pipe Band and their dancers are due to perform at this free event.

The Beating of the Retreat Ceremony, in its earliest form, was simply a drummers’ call. The Drum Major and his men would march around the camp playing to warn soliders it was time to return to their billets and go to bed.
