Woman jailed over $600 of damage to door

A 26-year-old woman has been given a 30-day prison sentence for causing $600 worth of damage to a sliding-glass door.

Appearing in Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, Trimiea Roland pleaded guilty to causing wilful and unlawful damage to the door of a Warwick residence on April 9.

Prosecutor Nicole Smith told the court that Roland was seen throwing an object at the door and breaking the glass in the morning of the day in question.

At a previous court appearance on April 15, Roland denied the offence and was bailed to her trial date on May 27, but Roland failed to appear and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

In court, Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo asked why Roland had caused the damage.

“We had an incident. It’s personal,” Roland replied.

Mr Tokunbo sentenced her to 30 days in prison.
