BHS is ‘Sailing into Summer’ with concert

Every year at BHS we hold our Annual Summer Concert at the amphitheatre.

We call it our Annual “Sailing into Summer” concert because at the conclusion we perform the famous Rod Stewart Classic We Are Sailing and the whole audience of teachers, parents and visitors joins in with the words of the song!

Our Jazz Saxophone Ensemble chose a happy Mexican number to perform called Cielito Lindo and to “cap” the music we all decided to wear appropriate head gear — Mexican sombreros!

Our concert included a wide variety of music, from a beautiful solo flute rendition of Theme from Titanic by Brianna Correia to the famous Rondo from Abdelazar by the 17th century composer Henry Purcell, performed by our orchestra

The parents were also entertained to a wide variety of music, from Bob Dylan (Blowing in the Wind) to the Beatles (Eleanor Rigby, performed by our Senior Choir).

At the end of the concert every musician stood up and played You are My Sunshine, especially for our music Teacher Mrs Caroline Davis, who is called Miss Sunshine because of her lovely smile!

As the sun set gently over the amphitheatre every single person sang We are Sailing. Perhaps the music will be heard “over the ocean” by all the America’s Cup sailors and they will come and listen to us at next year’s “Sailing into Summer” Concert!
